The first cruises in Acapulco are canceled due to Otis damage – El Sol de México

The cancellation of the first cruises to the port of Acapulco in this season that started the past October 27th and concludes in June 2024 began with the transatlantic “Norwegian Encore”, whose arrival was scheduled at 05:30 in the morning this Thursday, November 9.

Another of the cruises that announced its changed sea route, due to the damage left by the Hurricane Otis in the port of Acapulco, is the “Oceania Vista”with a scheduled arrival at this beach destination on Friday, November 10 at 06:00 in the morning.

According to the authorities in the tourism sector, for this 2023-2024 cruise season, more than 20 cruises were scheduled, which would represent an important economic spill and influx of foreign tourists to the port that is currently devastated by the damage caused by Hurricane Otis.

In the 2022-2023 seasonAcapulco, achieved the arrival of 22 ships with more than 70 thousand passengers and crew, those who left an economic spill for the beach destination estimated at just over 74 million pesos from October 2022 to May 2023.

The arrival of more than 20 cruise ships for this season represented a considerable increase in economic benefits. and influx of visitors, compared to last year’s results, according to the municipal tourism secretary himself, David Abarca Rodríguez, who had announced the participation of Acapulco in the national meeting of shipping companies this November in Mazatlán.
