Violence in Chiapas: homicides and kidnapping by the ejidal commissioner in Amatenango are reported – El Sol de México

In recent days, violence has escalated in the regions of Lacandon jungle, Comiteca Plateau and Sierra Mariscalwhere groups of organized crime wage a bloody dispute for control of the border between Chiapas and Guatemala. Homicides, clashes and kidnappings have marked this wave of violence that worries the population.

One of the epicenters of this violence is Amatenango de la Fronterawhere residents have reported the presence of heavily armed groupsallegedly linked to the criminal cell known as “Corn“.

Last Monday, November 20, armed individuals entered a home in the Nuevo Amatenango communitykidnapping two people identified as Audelino López Castillo, Ejidal Commissionerateand Juan Ramireza local teacher, whose whereabouts are unknown until now.

In Wonder Tenejapathe Monte Flor colony was the scene of the discovery of three dismembered bodieswith signs of violence and mutilated faces, next to a sign with a message.

The tension has spread to Comalapa Borderwhere the city woke up paralyzed and with the population protected by the risk of incursions from armed groups and violent clashes. As a precautionary measure, the authorities decided to suspend the school activities for today.

In response to the growing insecurityinhabitants of the region they blocked a road section near the bridge Amatenango de la Frontera. The situation became tense when a military contingent who was heading from Comalapa to Motozintla He prevented their passage, generating a confrontation that brought the situation to the brink of uncontrollability.
