The Monterrey businessman Alejandro Garza Lagüera, one of the pillars of the Cuauhtémoc Brewery, died at the age of 97.
The mayor of San Pedro Garza García, Miguel Treviño, reported the death of the businessman on his X account.

“May Don Alejandro Garza Lagüera, one of the most respected and loved businessmen in our city, rest in peace. “I send my condolences to his family and his friends,” the official wrote.
Son of Eugenio Garza Sada, he was a member of a dynasty that forged the Cuauhtémoc Brewery and, ultimately, Fomento Economico Mexicano (Femsa).
He studied at the Colegio Franco Mexicano de Monterrey, at Chaminade College, in Saint Louis, Missouri; and at Tec de Monterrey.
At the age of 22, he began his professional career at Cervecería Cuauhtémoc, in Sales Management, until he became general director of the company in 1960.

Garza Lagüera was advisor to the Center for Studies in Economics and Education, now the Academy of Humanistic Research; from the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, and from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
