The Attorney General’s Office of Chihuahua identified five people involved in the murder of activist Gloria Cañez and her daughter, which occurred on September 9 in the community of Yerbabuena, municipality of Balleza.

The prosecutor Juan Carlos Portillo Coronado reported that after the investigation work it was achieved identify five individuals related to in the homicide of the women, where two arrest warrants have already been issued; one of them already executed against Ramon M., who is the activist’s first cousin.

Portillo Coronado commented that the arrest warrant for Ramón M. is the most important because the murder is related to the rights dispute to be able to exercise the timber resource in the town of Yerbabuena, municipality of Balleza.

Likewise, the prosecutor revealed that the individual would run for the position of president of the Ejidal Commissionerate, since an assembly would be held soon where it would be defined who would assume the position to which the activist also aspired.

Likewise, he highlighted that they continue with the research work to clarify the identity of the other three involved because on the day of the murder the subjects were carrying military type clothing with his face covered, which is why it has been difficult to identify him.

“We are working on this case, to clarify the facts and ensure that justice is done and these types of acts do not occur,” said Portillo Coronado.
