AMLO attacks the media: they are factories of lies – El Sol de México

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador He described the media as “factories of lies” and called for countering “media power, especially that which has tendentious purposes, that which is at the service of the mafia of economic and political power.”

Before starting the section “Who is who in the lies”, in his press conference from the National Palace, the president said that there is a global tendency in the media to use false information.

“They are the new instruments of control and manipulation, and therefore of domination and submission, the control of information companies in the world, of large companies,” he said.

He pointed out that “it is no longer the bulletin, the chayote and the advertising contract. There are other mechanisms to continue seeking control of public opinion. There can be no democracy if there is no truthful, objective and professional information.”

For her part, Elizabeth García Vilchis, in charge of the section “Who’s who in the lies,” showed that some media outlets lied when they accused the president of obtaining alleged financing from drug traffickers for his 2006 campaign, since there is no evidence.

In the same vein, Elizabeth Sherwood, White House security advisor, clarified that this disinformation campaign did not come from the US presidency or the State Department, and that the investigation had been closed in 2011, as reported by the Chancellor Alicia Bárcena.

“Who were the people who inflated the trend? Could it be that what they want is to use this type of misinformation as electoral loot?” García Vilchis asked.
