This Thursday morning, the Ministry of Health (SSa) announced that they arrived at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) 600 thousand doses of the Sputnik vaccine V for the vaccination campaign that will be carried out during the December season.

The health agency said the vaccines were purchased from Humane Vaccines and recalled that the use of Sputnik V vaccine, developed at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of Russia, it was authorized since February 2021.

“The application of the vaccine against covid-19, Sputnik V, is safe, effective and of quality and has been authorized for emergency use since February 2021,” the tweet states.

The vaccines will be used in the vaccination campaign that will primarily serve people with serious illness, people aged 60 or over, as well as pregnant women, people with comorbidities and health professionals.

In the case of CDMX, Oliva López Arellano, Secretary of Health of Mexico City, reported that vaccination includes the application of five million doses, among which three million are distributed for Influenza and two million against Covid-19.

Likewise, the campaign includes a simultaneous vaccination for those people from vulnerable groups who have not had a booster in the last six months. Both vaccines will also be applied for the first time and quadrivalent inoculation against Influenza will be introduced, which protects against four strains of this virus.

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), will install 478 permanent vaccination posts in Health Centers and in the 32 hospitals of the network of the Ministry of Health (SEDESA).

Also, they will be installed 1,258 semi-fixed positions and 1,699 brigadesas well as 72 Mobile Units of “Health in your Home, Health for Well-being”.
