The President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador insisted that the judicial reform must be approved and took the opportunity to criticize two judges who granted protections so that it is not discussed in the Plenary Session of the Chamber of Deputies.

When asked about the outcry from his supporters during his report against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Norma Pineapple Hernandezthe president said that the judges “do not want Mexicans, the citizens, to elect the judges. And in their desperation, moreover, acting in an irresponsible and contradictory mannerdare to say that they invade the faculties of the Legislative Branch. But, in addition, they violate the Constitution.”

He added that “the Judicial Branch, which is in charge of ensuring strict adherence to the Constitution and the laws, becomes the most tenacious violator of the Constitution and the laws. And I say this because a judge, I believe from Chiapas, orders the Legislative Branch to suspend discussion and analysisthe Voting on constitutional reform to clean up the judiciary, a judge from Chiapas; and another person, I think a judge from Morelossays that they should not in the Legislative Branch, in case the reform is approved, they cannot send it to the state congresses, because as it is a constitutional reformnot only is the approval of a qualified majority in both chambers required, but it is also required that half plus one of the local congresses approve it, but this judge says that Do not send to the states“.

“In other words, they intend to stop or halt the legislative process, and for those who are respectful of the Constitution, of the laws, it is convenient for them to know that the Constitution establishes that it is the power to discuss and approve laws. It is not the power of any other power,” López Obrador criticized.

The president insisted that the Judiciary It is bad and needs to be reformed, due to the alleged corruption that exists within it.

“We believe that the Judiciary is bad, there is a lot influenceism, nepotism, corruptionand that a renewal, a change, a cleansing, a purification of the judicial power is essential, and that is why we are presenting an initiative to reform the Constitution.”
