The President Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized the National Action Party (PAN) for filing an appeal before the Supreme Court against the distribution of plurinominal federal deputies which gives Morena a qualified majority in San Lázaro.
“Imagine what happened yesterday, the president of the PAN presents a request for the Supreme Court to intervene and correct the Electoral Council and the Electoral Tribunal, when does not correspond to it in accordance with the Constitution to the Supreme Court to intervene, it is the exclusive power of these electoral bodies”the president said at his morning press conference on Wednesday.
The president questioned the appeal filed by the PAN leader, Marko Cortés Mendoza and said: “How dare you make such a statement?”
He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the reaction of Minister Juan Luis Gonzalez Alcantara Carranca to the PAN’s challenge project, who said that his project will not have an impact on the Electoral Court’s decision on the distribution of plurinominal seats.
“Even this minister, who is politically undefined, was afraid, ‘What is this?’ He even reacted! He said ‘no, not me’, Minister Carrancá, let’s recognize that,” said the president.

The day before, Minister Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá warned that the appeal filed by the PAN before the Court against the alleged overrepresentation of Morena and allies of the Green Party and the Labor Party in Congress “may not have the effect of replacing the decisions of the Superior Chamber (of the Electoral Tribunal) in what corresponds to its competence.”
