Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said Saturday that her Republican rival Donald Trump “disrespected hallowed ground” at the Arlington U.S. military cemetery after it emerged that her campaign pushed a staffer during a visit.
“Let me be clear: The former president disrespected hallowed ground, all for the sake of political maneuvering,” Vice President Harris said of Monday’s incident at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, where Trump was visiting family members of U.S. service members killed in Afghanistan.
Trump on Monday visited Arlington National Cemetery with relatives of some of the 13 service members killed in a 2021 bombing during the final hours of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
An Arlington employee was reportedly “abruptly removed” when she tried to ensure compliance with a law banning political activity on cemetery grounds.
