CDMX Prosecutor’s Office rejects spying on politicians – El Sol de México

The spokesperson for the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico CityUlises Lara López, denied that the body has requested Telcel wiretapping or geolocations against Santiago Taboada, Lly Téllezamong other politicians, as reported today by the American newspaper The New York Times (NYT).

In a message, the coordinator of advisors assured that the Prosecutor’s Office did not order the telecommunications company phone records of politicians or officials.

“This institution does not spy on political figures or any person, on the contrary, it investigates for exclusively legal purposes,” said the official.

Lara López also mentioned that there are no official numbers or investigation folders with the nomenclature indicated by the NYT.

According to the American newspaper, in the documents that that newspaper allegedly reviewed The Prosecutor’s Office asked Telcel for the telephone records of politicians and officials. The documents, he indicates, date from 2021 to date.

Among the people allegedly investigated are the candidate for the head of government, Santiago Taboada, who months before stated that he was spied on; the former capital representative Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, the PAN senator, Lilly Téllez, among others.

“This Prosecutor’s Office did not request a telecommunications intervention order from any judicial authority.

“It will be argued that the alleged documentation with which the information referring to the telephone company “It is false, which is why the Prosecutor’s Office was contacted to investigate crimes committed by public servants so that a thorough investigation can be carried out to find out the origin of the alleged documents,” the spokesperson said in this regard.

Lara López also clarified that The officials and politicians referred to by the NYT are not investigated for any kidnappingAs mentioned.
