Mexican director Elisa Miller prepares his new film project, and it is a psychological thriller titled “Legitimate”which portrays the true story of the kidnapping of activist Yakiri Rubio.
The story he made in collaboration with producer Nicolás Celis, It is based on the book “In Self-Defense” of the lawyer Ana Katiria Suárez, who represented the victim after the events that occurred in 2013, when Rubio was kidnapped and abused by two men in Mexico City.
In an attempt to save his life, The activist managed to free herself from her captors after having suffered a sexual assault, and killed one of them with the same knife that he used to injure her and try to kill her.
Even though it was in self-defense, The authorities accused her of homicide forcing her to spend three months in prison and pay bail of 423 thousand pesos. She was acquitted a year and a half later, with the help of feminist organizations, His case became an example of Mexico’s deficient judicial system.
