Earthquake of September 19, 1985: the day that the IMSS Park became a morgue – El Sol de México

September 19, 1985 is a date marked for Mexicans. Mexico City was destroyed by an earthquake that left 300 people dead. One of the most famous sports buildings of that time was the Social Security Park At that time it was the home of the baseball teams The Red Devils of Mexico and the capital Tigers.

In September 37 years ago, the diamond became the largest morgue in the then Federal District. All the bodies of those who died on that fateful day were taken to the Social Security Park, where relatives of the missing went to the stadium to look for their loved ones.
