Haidee Aceves wins silver again, Mexico’s fifth medal – El Sol de México

Mexican para swimmer Haidee Viviana Aceves got his second silver medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, after finishing second in the 50-metre backstroke-S2 event at the event held at the Aquatics Centre in the French capital.

Aceves Perez finished below Yip Pin Xiu of Singapore who stopped the clock at 1 minute 05.99 seconds to take the gold medal, while the Mexican para athlete finished with 1:08.96; Teresa Perales of Spain completed the podium with 1:10.95.

Mexican Fabiola Ramírez also participated, who finished in sixth place with 1:12.30.
Haidee Aceves was the first
a tricolor athlete to win a medal in the summer event for the national delegation after achieving it in the 100 meters backstroke-S2; she was also surpassed by Yip Pin Xiu.

While for the 50 meters backstroke-S2In the elimination round, she set an Americas record of 1:08.75 minutes.

With this result, Mexico reached five medals, ltwo silver medals won by Aceves Pérez, in addition to three bronze medals.

During the day another medal could still fall since Luis Mario Nájera advanced to the final and will have the chance to give Mexico its first gold in Para Taekwondo in the -80 kilogram category.
