Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reiterated on Thursday that he will retire from public life after his term ends and stated that he will only receive the next president, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
“I would just like to see the president, my president, I would receive her,” López Obrador Durán said at his morning press conference.
However, he added that he is sure that Sheinbaum will not seek him out, “because she is very capable, very very capable.”
He also called on no one to go to his farm in Palenque, Chiapas, where he says he will spend his retirement after his term.

“I say all this so that I don’t have any protests outside my house, and if I do, I know they are fifís. Anyone who comes to see me is a potential conservative disguised as a sympathizer.”
