Industrial Activity Falls in Eight States at the Beginning of the Second Half of 2023 – El Sol de México

Eight states in the country had drops in their industrial activity at the start of the second half of the year, Inegi reported this Wednesday.

Coahuila, Chiapas, Morelos, Puebla, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas and Mexico City had contractions in July between 0.2 and 9.2 percent at annual rate in the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI), while Guanajuato showed stagnation.

The indicator measures the performance of entities in secondary activities such as construction, mining, industry manufacturing and provision of basic services.

On the contrary, 23 states had positive results, among which Quintana Roo stood out, with an increase in 242 percentdriven by the Construction Industry.

In its comparison with June of this year, there were 11 entities that had a negative result during July, among them Tabasco, Campeche, Sinaloa and Puebla, with monthly decreases of between 4.9 and seven percent.
