Informal economy grows 3.8% in the first quarter, in Campeche it soars 25% – El Sol de México

He value of the informal economy in Mexico grew 3.8 percent at an annual rate in the first quarter of the year, Inegi reported on Tuesday.

With this increase, informality contributed to the country nearly 5.7 billion pesos between January and March.

The Inegi report highlights that in Campeche, the Gross Added Value (GVA) of the informal economy soared 25 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The entity from the southeast was followed by the largest growth in Quintana Roo, with 16 percent, and Sinaloawith 13.6 percent.

On the contrary, in Chihuahua This contribution from informality decreased by 0.5 percent in the reference period, being the only state with a decrease.

In Michoacán, the GVA of the informal economy stagnated, while in Oaxaca and Mexico City it grew by one percent, being the entities with the smallest increase.
