It is time to be ready for war, warns Kim Jong Un – El Sol de México

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said the unstable geopolitical situation surrounding his country means now is the time to be more prepared for war than ever, while inspecting the country’s main military university, he said Thursday. the state news agency KCNA.

Kim gave on-the-ground guidance Wednesday at the Kim Jong Il Military and Political University, named after his father who died in 2011, and which, according to KCNA, is the country’s “highest seat of military education.”

North Korea has stepped up weapons development in recent years under Kim and has strengthened military and political ties with Russia, reportedly supporting Moscow in its war with Ukraine in exchange for help in strategic military projects.

Furthermore, KCNA quoted Kim as telling university staff and students that “if the enemy chooses military confrontation with the DPRK, the DPRK will deal a fatal blow to the enemy without hesitation by mobilizing all means in its power.” .

DPRK is short for Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the North’s official name.

“Highlighting the complicated international situation… and the uncertain and unstable military and political situation around the DPRK, he said now is the time to be more prepared than ever for a war,” KCNA said.

Earlier this month, Kim oversaw the test launch of a new intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile that uses solid fuel, which analysts say would bolster the North’s ability to deploy missiles more effectively than liquid-fueled variants. .

North Korea has accused the United States and South Korea of provoking military tensions with what it calls “warlike maneuvers,” as the allies have conducted military drills with greater intensity and scale in recent months.
