Korea Spotlight arrives in CDMX with the Indie rhythm: what you should know about the free festival – El Sol de México

Korea Spotlight arrives for the first time Mexico City to make known to fans of the korean wave new musical proposals, this time from rock and indie.

The event organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) began in Kazakhstan in June 2023, and little by little it has been touring the world with stops in countries such as Germany, Australia, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, to end with a promising show in Mexico.

The objective is to present to the world the talent that emerges in South Korea, the genres that are beginning to gain popularity in addition to K-Pop. Below we tell you the details.

When and where will the Korea Spotlight be held?

After a tour of five countries, the Korea Spotlight will arrive in CDMX on November 20, 2023, so there is no excuse to attend because it is an official holiday. The schedule of activities will be from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The venue chosen to host the event is BB Auditorium located at Tlaxcala 160, Hipódromo, Cuauhtémoc, 06100, CDMX.

And although the event is completely free, to enter you must fill out a form that you can find by clicking here.

Bands confirmed for the event

The organizers announced four of the bands that will be present to liven up the event and demonstrate their talent.

  • The cradle: The name of the band made up of Kyungmin, Minhyuk, Ho and Isaac, is inspired by the imaginary company from the movie ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’ Their debut in 2018 was with the EP ‘Incompleteness Dreams’, and since their beginnings they have been characterized by their hard rock and Britpop rhythms.

  • Surl: Although Surl is a group that has already performed at international events such as Canada and Germany, now it is up to the Mexican public to get to know the new sounds they have and the freshness they bring to the genre they present.

  • W24: The four talented musicians that make up W24: Yunsoo Kim, Jonggil Kim, Howon Cheong and Aaron Park have since their debut in 2018 composed their albums on their own, so by listening to their songs, such as ‘Always MissingYou, you will learn about them.

  • Say Sue Me: This indie-rock/pop group draws inspiration from the surfing of Busan, South Korea, to create their music. The members are: Byungkyu Kim on lead guitar, Sumi Choi on vocals, Jaeyoung Kim on bass, and Sungwan Lim on drums.

In addition, they will have the special participation of the famous rapper Park Jung Wonbetter known as pH-1. If you dare to go, remember that you could find your new Korean idol.
