Luis Mario Nájera won silver in the parataekwondo of Paris 2024 – El Sol de México

Mexican para taekwondo athlete Luis Mario Najera He won the silver medal after falling to Asadbek Toshtemirov of Uzbekistan in the final of the 80kg K44 category which was held at the Grand Palais in the French capital.

Although he was combative, The Chiapas native could not beat Toshtemirov who managed to connect kicks to the chest and, from the first seconds, managed to score; although the Mexican tried to wake up in the final stretch of the fight, he could not do so and fell 38-17.

The athlete advanced to the final after who dramatically defeated Korean Jeonghun Joo by golden point. Earlier, in the quarter-finals, he defeated Abulfaz Abuzarli of Azerbaijan.

Nájera gave the sixth medal for the Mexican delegation and the second for this one discipline after Juan Diego García won bronze in the -70 kilogram category last Friday.

The para taekwondo team participating in the Parisian competition is led by female coaches Jannet Joy and triple Olympic medalist Maria del Rosario Espinoza.
