Maradona’s children ask to take his remains to a mausoleum in Buenos Aires – El Sol de México

The children of Diego Maradona, an Argentine soccer idol who died in 2020, asked the court to move their father’s remains from a private cemetery to a mausoleum in the Argentine capital, judicial sources reported this Thursday.

The request, processed before a court in the province of Buenos Aires, is to “allow the exhumation of the remains and their transfer with sufficient security and confidentiality conditions,” according to the document cited by the local press.

According to the request, the mausoleum will be located in the Puerto Madero neighborhood, close to the center of the capital, “so that all the Argentine people and citizens of the world can pay tribute to who was the greatest Argentine idol.”

The petition bears the signature of Dalma, Gianinna, Jana, Maradona’s daughters, and his ex-partner Verónica Ojeda, mother of his youngest son Diego Junior.

The remains of “10” remain in the private Bella Vista cemetery, on the outskirts of the city of Buenos Aires.

Maradona, considered one of the best footballers in history and emblem of the Albiceleste team, died at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020 in his sick bed, convalescing from surgery for a hematoma on the head suffered in a home accident. .

The death occurred when the former captain of the champion team in Mexico 1986 was under home confinement, in a residence in a private neighborhood of Tigre, 40 km north of Buenos Aires.

Eight health professionals, including the surgeon who operated on him, will be tried for “homicide with possible intent” (without intention), in a process that is expected to begin on June 4 in the courts of San Isidro (northern outskirts of Buenos Aires).

The defendants face possible sentences ranging from 8 to 25 years in prison.

The prosecution considers that all of them failed to fulfill the responsibilities they were responsible for caring for Maradona during his home confinement.

The family’s request for the transfer of the body must be submitted to the court for consideration within the framework of the judicial process being carried out.
