Marilia Monzón presents “Prenderé una velita”, an album that pays tribute to women – El Sol de México

The Spanish singer Marilia Monzón presents her first album, titled “Prenderé una velita”, which is released after almost two and a half years of production, and represents a tribute to the women in her life.

“They were times of great inspiration, of searching for new references, and it is a very beautiful and enriching path, on a personal and artistic level,” he says about it in an interview with The Sun of Mexico.

Regarding the title that gives its name to this material, she shared that it is a practice that takes her back to her childhood and adolescence. “All my life I saw the women in my life light candles as a synonym for attracting good things, as a synonym for hope and faith. One way or another there was no better way to give rise to this new stage.”

The singer, whose music has 50 thousand monthly listeners on the Spotify platform, recognized the inspiration that these people who have surrounded her throughout her life have given her.

According to her, they have helped her grow in all aspects of her life. “They make me the person and woman I am today. The role of women has been very important throughout my career, and I always want to keep them in mind.”

CONNECTION WITH MEXICO

To make this album he had the collaboration of Mexican producer Nacho Sotelo, who has worked with figures such as Mon Laferte and Carla Morrison. When asked about this dumbbell, she said she was happy, because she provided the facilities for the process to be quick.

“My songs traveled to Mexico before me. It seems good to me that these songs that have Ibero-American roots have traveled to Mexico in some way, working with him has been a wonderful experience, he has made everything very easy, the distance was not noticeable.”

NATALIA LAFOURCADE INSPIRES HER

The former participant of the reality show “Operación Triunfo” (in 2018) said she was proud to see how women have made their way in the music industry, which is why she would like to collaborate with female artists in the future.

Taking advantage of the rapprochement he has with Mexico as a result of this album, he confessed that Natalia Lafourcade, who has been one of his greatest musical influences.

“It has been a big part of the inspiration for this album and my songs. “She has been the protagonist of many moments in my life, and with her it would be a very dream collaboration,” he explained.

In addition to this launch, Marilia is preparing to offer shows in Madrid, Colombia and Mexico, where she will be part of the second edition of the PortAmérica Latitudes Festival and at the Guadalajara International Music Festival, in addition to a concert at the Foro del Tejedor de la Mexico City, next March 13.
