Once again the Mexican Delegation gave a moment of emotion with a new medal in the Paralympic Games. The parathlete Gilda Cota achieved the silver medal in the shot put discipline of Paris 2024.
The Mexican para-athlete arrived at the competition with very high expectations, as she is the world record holder. The Aztec registered a throw of 8.23m in April 2024, so the medal was expected.
After several throws, the Mexican recorded her best mark in the final of Paris 2024 with a 7.89m. Despite her great throw, the Mexican was surpassed by the Chinese parathlete Qing Wu, who marked 7.98. In fact, the Asian representative set a new Paralympic record.

The podium was completed by the para-athlete competing under a neutral flag, but who is Russian, Svetlana Krivenok. The neutral competitor recorded her personal best with a throw of 7.74m.
