Nobel Prize-winning physicist Peter Higgs dies – El Sol de México

The British scientist Peter Higgswinner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013 for his theoretical work on elementary particles, considered the key to the structure of matter, died on Monday at the age of 94, the University of Edinburgh announced on Tuesday.

“He died peacefully at home on Monday, April 8 after a short illness,” the university said in a statement. The physicist was recognized for the theory of the “Higgs Boson”, whose practical demonstration, almost half a century later, earned him the Nobel Prize.
