Oaxaca teachers protest during Salomón Jara’s report – El Sol de México

Teachers of section 22 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) they protested this Wednesday and tried to boycott the First Report of Governor Salomón Jara Cruz.

During their demonstrations, the teachers detained legislators, state government officials, as well as the Judiciary in the local Congress, where they went to comply with the protocol for handing over the president’s accounts.

The officials and legislators managed to leave the Legislative Palace after 3:00 p.m., when the mentors decided to leave.

After the teacher demonstrations on the esplanade of the Government Palace and the local Congress building, the State Government changed the location of the president’s message to the Guelaguetza auditorium for 6:00 p.m., while the teachers were summoned in front of the Victoria hotel, about 300 meters from the auditorium entrances.

The education union members demonstrated in front of the alternate venue when the governor was already giving his message. During the march to the auditorium, the teachers attacked to photojournalist Hugo Velasco, who was allegedly robbed of a cell phone.

The teachers accuse that the state president lied by not giving all the answers to the request list delivered since May 1, and that there have been six months of negotiations with Salomón Jara that have not ended, so they announced that this Thursday they will continue their demonstration in the Government Secretariat.

The protests were led by the General Secretary of the Union, Yenny Pérez Martínez, who called for a work stoppage in the City Sector since last Tuesday.
