Ocoyoacac community members block the Mexico-Toluca highway – El Sol de México

The blockade by the Acazulco community on the Mexico-Toluca highway near La Marquesa has been going on for almost four hours; meanwhile, a long line of vehicles continues to reach the municipality of Lerma.

According to the organization of “Agrarian communities and indigenous peoples in struggle” the demonstration arises as a means of protest for to demand the expropriation of land for the Interurban Trainwhich, according to the protesters, was carried out without respecting the foundations of the Constitution.

This mobilization began at 9:00 a.m. heading towards Mexico City (CDMX), so Thousands of motorists are stranded in the area.

Due to the bblockade maintained by the inhabitants of the Acazulco community On the Toluca-Naucalpan highway, hundreds of people heading to Mexico City find themselves stranded and unsure whether they will reach their destination.

During the protest, some drivers tried to talk to the community members to ask for their understanding of their situation; however, they only found a flat refusal from the protesters: “Since you have an obligation, so do we,” responded a community member to a driver who claimed he had a medical appointment, while another person shouted to his companions: “Stop talking.”

The protest began before noon on Friday and after 1:00 p.m., the kilometer-long line of vehicles reached the municipality of Lerma; meanwhile, the residents of Acazulco warn that they will not move until they have a response from the authorities.
