After 8 hours of blockades, residents of Ocoyoacac, They threatened to close the Mexico-Toluca unless they reach an agreement with the authorities.
“We want the presence of the authorities, for them to come and give us a solution. We want the governor to come here, she received our support and she promised to give us a solution. We have been deceived for more than 10 years, this is how they took our lands from us,” said Juan Soler, president of Bienes Comunales de San Jerónimo Acazulco.
They also criticized the authorities for failing to act, given that tomorrow, August 31, the second section of the Insurgente highway from Lerma to Santa Fe will be inaugurated, even though there is no resolution regarding the “invasion” of their lands.
“How is it possible that a few hours before they launch this train to Santa Fe they don’t give us a solution and that they don’t even attend to us? That’s why we want trained people to arrive and be able to finish this issue,” said one of the members of the indigenous community.
They stressed that the slogan is that “there will be no release of the road without a response” and therefore they ruled out the Mexico-Toluca highway being opened in the next few hours.
“If we have to stay for several days, that will be it. We are not going to leave, we are fed up with being confronted with so many lies about their mega-project of the Corruption Train,” said Mrs. Irma.
They explained that the land expropriation continues, since federal authorities recently invaded a 150-hectare plot of land in the same section.
“They like to take over stretches of road that do not belong to them, they do nothing for the community but they take it away from them” explained those affected.
As a result of this closure, protesters and motorists clashed at times, as some said they had to travel to Mexico City for health reasons, so the ejidatarios allowed passage, but decided to close it again.
The closure that took place in the direction from the capital of the State of Mexico to Mexico City, both on the toll road and the free road, was led by elements of the National Guard to avoid any mishaps.
Meanwhile, a long line of vehicles continues to form, reaching as far as the municipality of Lerma. It was after 6:00 p.m. when protesters blocked traffic in both directions.
