Palacio de Bellas Artes turns 90: September will be the month to celebrate – El Sol de México

Last February the celebration for the 90 years of the Palace of Fine Artswhich will last until the end of 2024. September will be especially dedicated to the anniversary, reported Lucina Jiménez, general director of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL).

At a press conference, the director announced the activities to be held in September, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, which opened its doors on September 29, 1934.

“Bellas Artes is created as a space in dialogue from the literature, music, dance, opera, architecture and all disciplines as stage expressions. September is the exact month of the 90th anniversary of the Palacio de Bellas Artes and that is how we started it,” he added.

What will be the activities for the anniversary?

The first activity will be the gala of the National Dance Company (CND), under the artistic direction of Elisa Carrillo and Cuauhtémoc Nájera, on September 1 in the Main Hall of Fine Arts.

He Tribute to the composer Gonzalo Curiel by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludwing Carrasco, will take place on Friday 6th and Sunday 8th, with the participation of mezzo-soprano Encarnación Vázquez and soprano Cristina Ortega, and on piano Rodolfo Ritter.

He Study of the Fine Arts Opera and the Morelia Boys’ Choir They will share the stage with quartets from the Conservatory of Roses and the Conservatory of Fine Arts to perform the world premiere of the work “Campos de oro verde” (Fields of Green Gold) by composer Manolo Marroquín on September 12.

The Chamber Orchestra of Fine Arts will begin its second season with a recital on September 19 that includes works by Gina Enríquez, Miguel Bernal Jiménez, Manuel M. Ponce, Macedonio Alcalá, as well as the Mexican premiere of “El trompito” by Eduardo Angulo and “Danzón No. 2” by Arturo Márquez, which celebrates 30 years since its premiere.

On September 22, “La Fiesta Mexicana” arrives, the concert offered by the Bellas Artes Madrigalists Choir, under the direction of Carlos Aransay, accompanied by the representative mariachi of the Ollin Yoliztli Mariachi School and the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Celaya Music Conservatory.

The National Opera Company to present the “Ninth Symphony”by Ludwig van Beethoven with the Orchestra and Choir of the Teatro de Bellas Artes, under the direction of Iván López Reynoso, and with the guest director of the choir Alfredo Domínguez, on Tuesday 24th.

The exhibition “90 years of the Palace of Fine Arts: Memory of Art and Architecture“, will be on display from September 26; 146 pieces taken from the basement of the Palacio de Bellas Artes will also be on display, which will be on public view for the first time.

The ultimate celebration

The National Symphony Orchestradirected by Ludwig Carrasco, will offer the “90th Anniversary Concert at the Palace of Fine Arts”in which the Amalia Hernandez’s Mexican Folkloric Balletwith the interpretation of the “Indian Symphony” by Carlos Chávez; “Galopa” by Angela Peralta; “Sensemayá” by Silvestre Revueltas; “Danzón No. 2” by Arturo Márquez; “Huapango” by José Pablo Moncayo, as well as danzones by Agustín Lara and mambos by Dámaso Pérez Prado.

The orchestra will premiere “Obertura festivo” (Festive Overture) by Mexican composer Carlos Vidaurri, a work dedicated to the Palacio de Bellas Artes for its 90th anniversary; the concerts will be held on Friday 27 and Sunday 29.

On September 29th, the National Lottery draw will be held with the commemorative ticket from the Palace of Fine Arts.
