PJF workers withdraw from the Senate to allow discussion of judicial reform – El Sol de México

The National Association of Judges and Magistrates of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (JUFED) announced that workers who remained stationed at the entrance of the Senate of the Republic They withdrew and reduced the number of closures to allow free access to senators to the legislative building to discuss judicial reform.

Through a statement, the JUFED He said that they made this withdrawal so that legislators would not have to go to an alternate venue to discuss the reform.

“In light of reports that protests around the Senate of the Republic are preventing access to it and that the option of an alternative venue for the session is therefore being considered, JUFED and the sister organizations participating in it report that their presence has been withdrawn from all streets and access roads to ensure free passage.”

The institution headed by Judge Juana Fuentes Velázquez also reported that they have maintained dialogue with the security staff of the Senateand even a notary public will attend on Sunday (when the reform begins to be discussed in Committees) to certify that the accesses will be free:

“Let it be clear that we will not be the ones seeking to prevent the work of legislators in the Upper House. We reiterate to legislators of all parties that even though we are against judicial reform due to its effects on the division of powers, the sessions will not be prevented from taking place,” said the National Board of the JUFED.

They also asked the opposition senators in the chamber (PRI, PAN and MC) “to put the future of the Republic in their highest interest,” and withdrew the call to senators José Sabino Herrera and Araceli Saucedo (who went from the opposition to being part of Morena) “to rectify and vote against considering the historical legacy that they may still lead.”

The judicial reform will begin its analysis in Senate Committees this Sunday, September 8, and according to the president of the Board of Directors, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, it could be voted on Wednesday, September 11.
