Rains do not give respite in Chalco: there are 29 days of flooding – El Sol de México

The water level in the Jacalones and Culturas de México neighborhoods dropped just 11 centimeters yesterday after the rains that hit Chalco on Thursday night, reported the General Directorate of Civil Protection of the State of Mexico.

The flooding reached 85 centimeters, so the National Water Commission and the Water Commission of the State of Mexico (CAEM) carried out dredging and pumping work.

In addition, local authorities reported a decrease in the number of streets that remain flooded, from 19 to 15.

The General Coordinator of Civil Protection and Comprehensive Risk Management, Adrián Hernández Romero, reported that in order to continue with the work, the machinery was changed and more pumping equipment was installed at strategic points outside of ground zero, in order to drain a greater amount of water.
