The American rapper Fatman Scoop died at age 53 after collapsing while performing on stage, his manager announced Saturday.
Scoop, known for its hits “Be Faithful” and “It Takes Scoop”collapsed on Friday while performing on stage in Hamden, Connecticut, and was taken to the hospital but The doctors were unable to revive him.US media reported.
A video posted by celebrity site TMZ shows what appears to be the moment after his collapse, when, still at the show location, A medical team was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques on him.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop,” his family posted on the artist’s Instagram account.
“Fatman Scoop was known worldwide as the undisputed voice of the club. His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity,” the family added.
“It is with the deepest regret of my heart that I announce the passing of Isaac Freeman IIIknown professionally as Fatman Scoop,” manager Birch Michael wrote on his Facebook account.
“You taught me to be the man I am today. I love you Scoop. Thank you so much for everything you gave me,” Michael added in the post, along with an image of the artist.
The hip-hop world paid tribute to him on social media.

Genre star Missy Eliot told X that Scoop’s “voice and energy contributed to many songs that made people feel happy and want to dance, for more than two decades.”
“Your impact is enormous and will never be forgotten,” he added.
