Waters, who this week performed in Brazil on his farewell tour, is scheduled to perform on Friday in Montevideo, and next Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd in Buenos Aires. But according to what he declared to the Argentine newspaper Página 12, he must continue staying in Sao Paulo.

“The city of Montevideo has been closed to me, I have nowhere to stay. I have to fly there directly on the day of the show,” he said, “furious” with this situation, which, he said, will prevent him from having dinner on Thursday with “my friend.” former Uruguayan president José Mujica, as planned.

When consulted by AFP, several of the main hotels in the Uruguayan capital refrained from commenting on the issue.

The president of Israeli Central Committee from Uruguay, Roby Schindler, and from the Jewish NGO B’Nai B’Rith in Uruguay, Franklin Rosenfeld, pointed out this week that the artist was a “propagator” of anti-jewish hatredin letters addressed to the Sofitel Montevideo and published on the social network X.

Schindler called Waters “misogynist, xenophobic and antisemitic“, while Rosenfeld threatened to call on everyone to avoid the Sofitel chain if it decided to host the “anti-Semitic artist.”
