Two women died and eight were injured. in the Russian bombings which hit the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine on Friday, authorities said, urging residents of towns near the border with Russia to evacuate.
Sumy is located just across the border from Russia’s Kursk region, where kyiv launched a surprise offensive on August 6.with the aim of creating a “buffer zone” to protect itself from Russian attacks on its territory.
Regional prosecutors said that The body of a 37-year-old woman was found under the rubble from a building in Sumy, which was hit in the shelling.
Another 48-year-old woman later died in hospital from her injuries.prosecutors said, adding that eight other people were injured in the attack that started a fire.

Regional authorities said people in 183 Sumy settlements near the border with Russia are being urged to evacuate. More than 21,000 people have already left the border area, they said.
