SSPC claims it achieved a 19% decrease in intentional homicides – El Sol de México

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguezsaid on Tuesday that the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador “He was not wrong” with his security strategy to pacify the country, while maintaining that thanks to it, intentional homicides decreased by 19 percent.

Rodríguez said that through policies to address the causes of violence, such as peace fairs, voluntary disarmament and the Tianguis del Bienestar, the incidence of crime in the country has been reduced.

He said that from the period From 2000 to 2018, the crime of huachicol increased and that this illegal activity is led by organizations such as the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel.

He added that with the arrival of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Guanajuato also unleashed violent actions of local criminal groups.

Rosa Icela Rodríguez acknowledged that Guanajuato is the state that has the fifth largest economy in the country, first in the collection of remittances and seventh in foreign direct investment, however, she said that despite this, 50 percent of the population does not have social security and 41% have incomes below the poverty line.
