Ana Lilia Rivera, President of the Board of Directors of the Senate, closed the work of the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union during the last recess period of the LXV Legislature.
“I express my deepest gratitude for having been the woman who shared with me this historic moment in which, for the first time in 200 years of republican life, the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies were presided over by two women.
“My thanks and recognition to Marcela Guerra Castillo. Thank you very much, because in political diversity, gender unites and is stronger than ideological divisions.”
This paves the way for the General Congress session to be held next Sunday, September 1, with which the work of the LXVI Legislature will begin in both chambers.
Ana Lilia Rivera said that, with the help of society, the work of this permanent commission was carried out in an atmosphere of dialogue, understanding, respect, and inclusion, and this scenario was ideal for the orderly and institutional development of broad discussions and intense debates on issues of national interest, under the conviction that respect for the right to discern and the decision of the majority strengthens democratic life as a society and as a nation.
“I am convinced that our ideological differences are reflected in the legislator’s interpretation of the aspirations of our compatriots and the needs of Mexico. For this reason, we have sought to create a space for dialogue regarding the concerns and demands of society.”
He said that through a total of 493 issues that directly impact the life of our country, institutions are strengthened, promoting social justice and guaranteeing fundamental rights and of course all this effort would not have been possible without the commitment, vision and policy of the coordinators of the parliamentary groups that form part of the basis of the political organization of this congress in its two chambers.
The President of the Board of Directors of the Senate thanked the senators Ricardo Monreal Avila, Manuel Añorve Baths, Clemente Castaneda, Raul Bolanos, Giovana Bañuelos Sasil de Leon, Miguel Angel, Mancera Espinosa, as well as the deputies Moses Ignacio Mier Velasco, Ruben, Ignacio Moreira Valdes, Carlos, Alberto Puente Salas and Alberto Anaya Gutierrez as coordinators of the political forces represented in this parliament, for demonstrating their ability to build bridges of dialogue.
