Today, former mayors, former district chiefs, re-elected deputies and even grasshopper politicians will be sworn in to begin the III Legislature of the Congress of Mexico City, where Morena and its allies will have 43 of the 66 seats, after the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation declared the appeals filed by the opposition inadmissible.
By majority vote, the Superior Chamber confirmed the integration of the local Congress on Friday night, leaving the Morena-PT-PVEM alliance one vote away from a qualified majority.
With this decision, Cuatroté formalizes a legislative steamroller, after the Electoral Institute of Mexico City approved last June an adjustment so that Morena has more plurinominal deputies than those capped by law.
The Constitutive Session of the local Congress will be held today at 08:00 hours in the legislative building, located on Donceles corner Allende, Centro neighborhood, in accordance with the provisions of article 24 of the Organic Law of Congress.
