Xóchitl Gálvez clarifies his phrase: “If at 60 you don’t have assets, you’re really cool” – El Sol de México

Presidential candidate

Hours before, during her visit to Huixquilucan, in the State of Mexico, the Hidalgo candidate recalled an attack by her opponent Claudia Sheinbaum in the first presidential debate where she accused her of being “corrupt” for living in a house, while she rented an apartment.

“We want women to be independent, to have their own assets. By the way, she complained to me that I lived in her own house and that she lives in a rented apartment. If at 60 you have not been able to build an estate, you are very cool, with all due respect,” she declared.

This statement has caused criticism on social networks towards the candidate of the Fuerza y Corazón por México coalition, pointing out that she belittles those who do not have their own home at the age of 60.

For this reason, the PAN-PRI-PRD presidential candidate asked at a rally with residents of Atizapán de Zaragoza that her comments not be taken out of context because they were directed at Claudia Sheinbaum.

He added that Sheinbaum “has accounts in tax havens, she has had salaries as Head of Government, she has been a public official in Mexico City and the truth of the matter, she is the one who demanded that I live in a house and she in a rented apartment.”

Finally, he said that if Sheinbaum “at 60 years old has not known how to manage the resources she has earned as a public official, that is her problem, but the reference was clear and forceful to Mrs. Sheinbaum, do not take the statement out of context.”
