Due to the above, the activist indicated that the capacity of the prisons and build new ones, taking into account “prison is not the solution to absolutely everything,” however, he said that far from increasing their capacity, federal prisons have been closed and this has increased the populations in the state prisons.

“There is less and less budget for the criminal justice system given that it is not politically profitable, it is a problem that has been growing and also from what I have seen there is an increase in violence problems inside prisonsthere are more and more cases of violencethey are also more youths who are entering the classes and that causes the fights inside the prisons are much more frequent, as well as the issue of addictions,” he indicated.

He also urged to streamline the justice systemas he recalled that at least 47 percent of the people deprived of liberty in prisons have not received a sentence, that is, they are in preventive detention and increase the budget in the crime prevention and of the addictions.
