Violence saturates Semefo in Cancún: there are more than 700 unidentified bodies – El Sol de México

More than 700 bodies remain unidentified and unclaimed in the Cancun morgue597 of these are the result of the dispute over the sale of drugs in the plaza, said this Monday Raciel López Salazar, the head of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo.

The prosecutor revealed that this is an alarming situation, since 90 percent of intentional homicides registered from January to October of this year are linked to the sale of drugs.

López Salazar admitted that the dispute between criminal groups control of the black drug market has led to a significant increase in violence, contributing to the number of unidentified bodies in the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).

The Quintana Roo prosecutor clarified the recent rumors about an alleged trailer full of bodies located outside the General Hospital of Cancún, indicating that it is actually a conservation bed facility for the bodies of the hospital’s deceased patients.

Faced with the growing problem, Raciel López Salazar announced concrete measures to address the saturation in the forensic system and the construction of a second level in the forensic pantheon, an initiative aimed at increasing the capacity of storage and processing of bodies.

Other high-impact crimes in Quintana Roo

On the other hand, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating the Crime of Human Trafficking managed to arrest 19 individuals, among whom stands out a man whose cell phone revealed a catalog in which a list of boys and girls.

During the weekly press conference at the C5 Security Complex in Cancun, prosecutor Raciel López Salazar indicated that to date, 35 investigation files have been initiated as part of the priority fight against human trafficking in the state.

The head of the state prosecutor’s office stated that so far this year, 104 women and 36 children have been rescued and that his focus is aimed at dismantling networks that operate in the sexual exploitation of minors.

In the most recent case, the rescue of two minors and the arrest of six people; Five of them were found in a motel and another in a home in the Villas Otoch neighborhood of Cancún and they formed a gang that offered sexual encounters with two adolescents aged 14 and 16.

He also reported that in another operation the rescue of a teenager was achieved in a motel located on José López Portillo Avenue, where those responsible for the establishment were arrested, as well as another subject who was guarding another minor in a home in Villas Otoch and that was identified as Israel ‘N’.
