“In times when one does not know where the truth is and it is not as clear to know, as in other times, where good is and where evil is and knowledge as a treasure has ceased to be important, reflect on the power of the different languages becomes pressing,” said the writer Rosa Beltrán, during the presentation of this celebration that evokes the International Book Day.
With 500 activities, 110 exhibitors and around 150 thousand copies for salein this edition we will discuss, among other topics, the problematic of native languages in Danger of extinctionhe value of oral literatureshe editing workthe languages from inclusionthe writing and rewrite, digital narratives and new forms of expressionnature and the environment.
The opening conference of the event will be given by the writer and journalist Juan Villoro, which has been titled “Conquest and counterconquest. The resources of the language”, where he will talk about the legacy of the Zapatista movementwhich this year celebrates three decadesas well as the 300 years of the hegemony of the Spanish language in Mexico, as well as the current condition of languages in the country.
As one of the events stellar, Mariana Enriquez will participate in a conversation where he will talk about his literary careerhis narrative stylehis writing process and his exploration of the horror genre and the fancy. Rosa Beltran and Socorro Venegas They will talk with the writer.

To recognize the value of 68 indigenous languages of Mexico will be presented Originaria projectdedicated to spreading the work of poets in indigenous languages. There will be the presence of Ateri Miyawatl, Celeste Jaime and Mara Rahab Bautista.
Furthermore, it will be recognized language as a means of protest with the participation of the journalist Daniela Rea and Adolfo Cordova, Amanda de la Garza and Socorro Venegasin a ludic activity that will invite you to sing and form a choir against injustice.

The Book and Rose Festival will take place from April 19 to 21 at the University Cultural Center of the UNAM.
