They delay the total reopening of Metro Line 12 – El Sol de México

The head of government, Martí Batres Guadarrama, promised last July that Line 12 would be fully open in December, but yesterday he announced, without specifying an exact date, that this could happen at the end of January.

On July 19, the president promised in front of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador that the section that goes from Tláhuac to Tezonco, and in which the collapse occurred that left 27 people dead in 2021, would open to the public before the end of the year.

“We have six stations left to reinforce and reopen. This will happen in December of this year, this means that in December of this year the entire Metro Line 12 will be fully reopened and fully reinforced, from Mixcoac to Tláhuac,” he assured at that time.

Yesterday, during the presentation of the Balance of Achievements of the Government of Mexico City, Batres Guadarrama anticipated that the reopening of the Gold Line will be, at least, in a month, since only the reinforcement work was completed on Friday.

“We expect that at the end of January the Metro will be open to users of this Line 12,” the president mentioned.

According to the local government, among the works carried out are the reconstruction of three clearings: two between Tezonco and Olivos, and the other between Nopalera and Zapotitlán.

In addition, the structure was reinforced with 257 spans. They also reinforced the existing structure with an additional support structure with struts, diaphragms and turnbuckles.
