The French police dwas on Tuesday at a 33-year-old man suspected of killing his wife and four childrenfound dead on the day of Christmas in an apartment near Paris.
Authorities discovered on Monday the bodies of the woman and her four children, nine months, four, seven and 10 years olds, at his home in the city of Meaux, about 40 km east of Paris, after his relatives had no news of him and notified the police, prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier said in a statement.
“The apartment did not present any signs of forced entry and the father of the family was absent,” he had initially detailed.
The man was finally arrested this Tuesday in Sevran, another suburb in the east of Paris, according to a police source.
According to a source close to the case, The mother, 35, and her children were murdered with a knife. The father is 33 years old, according to this source and the prosecutor’s office.
The suspect had already stabbed his wife in the shoulder blade in 2019the prosecutor later indicated.
The case was closed for reasons of poor mental statusaccurate Jean-Baptiste Bladier in a press appearance. The expert opinion then indicated that there was a problem of discernment in the suspect, a man of French nationality who has been suffering from depressive and psychotic disorders since 2017.
The investigation opened for “voluntary manslaughter with premeditation” is in the hands of the regional directorate of the Versailles judicial police.

At the end of November, a 41-year-old man, already convicted of domestic violence, went to a police station to confess to the murder of his three daughters, aged between four and 11, in Alfortville.
A month before, a gendarme killed his three daughters and then committed suicide, at his home in Vémars.
In France, an average of one feminicide is perpetrated every three days.
Last year, 118 women were murdered by their spouse or ex-partner. These dramas usually occur in a context of breakup.
Total, 244,300 victims of gender violence, the vast majority of them womenwere recorded by security forces, a figure up 15 percent compared to 2021.

Women’s rights associations interpret this increase as a sign that their voices are being taken into account more.
