March 8M in CDMX: this is the road and security operation prepared by the government – El Sol de México

From noon until 3:00 p.m. this Friday March 8 various cfeminist contingents will march in the Mexico City to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

The local government today presented the road and security operation that will accompany the women during their planned tours throughout Reforma, starting from the Estela de Luz, until reaching the Zócalo, which will be completely free to receive them.

“We want women to demonstrate, to do so safely and with peace and coexistence. We will be very attentive throughout the entire journey to dialogue,” he said. Ingrid Gómez, Secretary of Women.

The agency will send to the march to psychologists and lawyers to listen to the protesters.

“It is a manifestation that summons different emotions, presences and that many times crises have to be addressed. We are coordinated with women’s lawyers in the agencies of the prosecutors to address complaints of violence,” Gómez added.

ALONG THE ROUTE

Adriana Contreras, general director of Governmentexplained that they have identified six major starting points.

  • The Trail of Light
  • The Diana
  • The Angel of Independence
  • The Amajac Glorieta
  • The Monument to the Revolution
  • The Monument to the Mother.

To do this, the government will deploy 500 public servants who will form a dialogue brigade with different tasks: 120 are from the government, 100 from the Women’s Secretariat, 50 from the Comprehensive Human Rights System, 150 from the Inclusion and Social Welfare Secretariat and 80 from the Youth Institute.

Part of this group has already visited the businesses located along the route to notify them of the event and the corresponding measures to protect their establishments. There will also be the team of Civil protection of the city and the body of Firefighters.

TRANSIT

From early on the transit police will place road cordons on the route of the march and concentration points. The contingents are scheduled to meet from noon

  • The bike stations in Reformfrom Estela de Luz to Juárez, will not provide service
  • The government will remove all signs from Reforma, Avenida Juárez and 5 de Mayo
  • Traffic agents will channel to alternate roads and have early cuts along the route

SECURITY

Marcela Figueroa, Undersecretary of Institutional Development of the policeexplained that they will deploy 800 policewomen along the route.

  • They will only wear personal protective equipment: full uniform, helmet and shield. Some will have fire extinguishers to deal with fire outbreaks.
  • There will be 1,500 more police women pending in case of support
  • The ERUM will enable 10 ambulances, 10 motorcycle ambulances and 85 paramedics
  • The Marabunta Brigade will be present

“We will be linked all the time so that any issue has a perspective of Human rights about the actions of the city government,” said Ricardo Ruiz, secretary of the city government.
