Nearshoring window will be brief: SRE – El Sol de México

The owner of the Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE), Alicia Barcenawarned that the window of opportunity that Mexico has with the nearshoring It is very short, so called to take advantage of it.

“There is great competition that is going to come with the United States and we have to take advantage of this opportunity that is going to be very brief and it is not going to be easy if we do not know how to take advantage of it,” said the official at the 19th edition of the Congress of the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (Comce).

At the event, the chancellor said that one of the country’s main challenges is to export more products to new countries.

He recalled that 90 percent of Mexican exports go to five countries and a third are only products such as automobiles and other manufacturing.

“There are the challenges, to expand, diversify, reach more markets with more products,” he stressed.

The president of the Mexican Business Council (CMN), Rolando Vegaagreed with the official about the brevity of the window of opportunity for the nearshoring and added that the country has advantages that must be worked together on various fronts, among which the strengthening of the T-MEC.

He also highlighted energy sufficiency, competition, innovation and the technological developmentjust like him Rule of law as some of the topics to be strengthened to attract greater investments to the country.
