During the night of this February 12 An armed attack was recorded against a worker and family member of Andrés Salas, a journalist from the eastern region of Morelos, on the Mexico-Oaxaca highway near the Gabriel Tepepa neighborhood of Cuautla.
It was around 6:30 p.m. when the State Public Safety Commission (CES) from Morelos, through the Coordination, Command, Control, Communications and Computing Center (C5) received the report that Armed individuals aboard a motorcycle fired several shots at the communicator’s vehicle.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Morelos Police officers observed that inside the black Chevrolet brand vehicle There were two injured people, so they immediately requested medical services for their transfer and medical attention..
Subsequently, the area was guarded by police officers and they waited for police personnel to arrive. Prosecutor’s Office of the Eastern Region to carry out the corresponding procedures. At the same time, they deployed a search operation to locate the alleged perpetrators.

Politicians condemn the attack against the journalist
Faced with this aggression, the governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo, condemned the attack that left one fatal victim.
“The Mechanism for the Protection of Journalists and Human Rights Defenders of the State of Morelos is pending the case”added the state president.
For her part, the candidate for governor of Morelos for the party National Regeneration Movement (Brunette), Margarita González Saraviaalso condemned the armed attack.
Through a statement, The Executive Branch requested the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) provide timely follow-up to the investigation so that the fact does not go unpunished.
