Featherweight pays tribute to Mexican music at a Coachella that Eilish and Shakira “steal” – El Sol de México

The Mexican singer Peso Pluma lit up the main stage of the Coachella festival with his corridos tumbados and paid tribute to the pioneers of Mexican music in an edition that unexpectedly welcomed Billie Eilish and Shakira.

“Up with Mexican culture! Up with the corridos bastards! Up with Mexico!” shouted Hassan Emilio Kabande, the real name of the singer born in Jalisco (Mexico), when performing ‘Lady Gaga’, while behind him images of fundamental figures of Mexican music such as Chalino Sánchez, Valentín Elizalde or Jenni Rivera appeared.

Surrounded by dancers, between bursts of fire and dressed in white, Kabande sang some of his most popular songs such as ‘The Baby’, or ‘Rubicon’, as well as songs in which he explicitly refers to drug trafficking such as ‘AMG’ or ‘El Hawk’.

Their show was full of live musicians and the presence from special guests such as Becky G, whom he described as “the first woman” who helped him in the industry before singing his song ‘Chanel’, Junior H, with whom he performed ‘El Azul’, and the Puerto Rican Arcángel with whom he presented his most recent collaboration ‘Peso Completo’.

The great return of Lana Del Rey and the “stealing” of spotlights from Shakira and Billie Eilish

Shakira’s surprise appearance at Bizarrap’s performance to sing her hit ‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’, in which he talks about his breakup with former Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, was one of the most unexpected moments of the festival.

After the Argentine producer played songs like ‘Mamichula’, by Trueno and Nicki Nicole, or the sessions with Nathy Peluso and L-Gante, the Colombian took the stage and took the opportunity to announce that in November she will begin a concert tour titled just like her most recent album: ‘Las mujeres ya no Llor’.

Another unexpected presence of the night was that of Billie Eilish as a guest in the performance of Lana Del Rey, who this Friday experienced her great return to Coachella, ten years after her last show at the festival that takes place at the Empire Polo. Club.

Eilish performed her song ‘Ocean Eyes’ and ‘Video Games’, one of Del Rey’s most iconic songs.

“She is the voice of my generation and her generation. I am very happy to be able to sing my favorite song with her,” Del Rey said when introducing the 22-year-old singer.

Del Rey had a triumphant entrance on a motorcycle and during her performance she wore a sky blue dress full of sparkles and delighted her thousands of followers with songs like ‘Born to Die’, ‘Doin’ Time’ or ‘Young and Beautiful’.
