In broad daylight, Yair Martín Romero Segura, aspiring federal representative for Ecatepec, and his brother were murdered in the streets of the Santa Clara neighborhood.

The events took place on Hidalgo and Morelos streets, where armed individuals opened fire on two men and one of them also buried a knife in his back.

Elements of the Municipal Police arrived at the scene and immediately cordoned off the area where the bodies of these two men were lying.

Yair Martín Romero Segura registered as a candidate for Morena’s candidacy for federal representation for the 16th district of Ecatepec and Tlalnepantla and recently joined the project headed by Ernesto Santillán Ramírez for the mayor of the first municipality.

The Romero Segura brothers headed an organization of transporters and merchants originally from San Pedro Xalostoc. Nearly three thousand members recently joined the political team of first councilor Ernesto Santillán Ramírez.

Romero Segura had already publicly denounced that he had received threats and attempts at extortion and political pressure from leaders of the Union of National Unions and Organizations (USON) to force him to support local representative Azucena Cisneros Coss.
