Russia proposes its airlines to carry out regular direct flights with North Korea – El Sol de México

The Russian air transport agency, Rosaviatsiahe proposed to the national airlines the possibility of making direct flights regular with North Korea within the framework of the rapprochement between both countries.

As reported today by the newspaper “Kommersant”, Rosaviatsia made this proposal to Aeroflotthe country’s main airline, and one of its subsidiaries, Aurora.

Precisely, the latter, based on the island of Sakhalin, which is located in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, was “theoretically willing” to do so.

A delegation from Rosaviatsia recently traveled to Core del Norte to address this initiative with the North Korean civil aviation authorities.

Experts consulted by “Kommersant” highlighted that those most interested in having regular flights are the political and business circlesand that, whatever the case, a stopover would have to be made in Vladivostok, capital of the Russian Far East.

Flights between the two countries resumed in August and since then the North Korean company Air Koryo operates only two flights a week.

Russia and North Korea have strengthened their relations since the beginning of the war in Ukraineespecially since Moscow began to experience ammunition shortages.

The Russian president, Vladimir Putinreceived the North Korean leader in September, Kim Jong-unafter which South Korea and the United States denounced that Pyongyang supplied millions of artillery shells to Moscow.

Last week, North Korea and Russia signed a protocol on trade, science and technology within the framework of the visit of an official Russian delegation to the communist regime.
