Xochitl Galvezpresidential candidate of the PAN-PRI-PRDmet this day with the Judge Mónica Soto Fregoso, president of the Upper Room of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) starting January 1, 2024, and magistrates Felipe Fuentes Barrera and Felipe de la Mata Pizaña.
Through a statement, the TEPJF indicated that the meeting – in which the still presiding magistrate Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón and the Judge Janine Otálora Malassis– it was an open conversation in which the magistrates offered the presidential candidate all the guarantees that the work of the TEPJFduring this electoral process, will be carried out with absolute impartiality, autonomy and independence.
They expressed that the resolution of controversies and the protection of political-electoral rights of citizens are fully guaranteed.
The meeting between Soto Fregoso and Xóchitl Gálvez –in which the senator Kenia López Rabadán– occurs after a photograph was released in which the magistrate and the deputy Sergio Gutiérrez Lunarepresentative of Brunette before him National Electoral Institute (INE), having dinner in a restaurant. The event provoked criticism from the opposition for alleged bias on the part of the judge.

He TEPJF assured that the members of the Upper room hold meetings with all political and social forces of the country and that in the meeting the three magistrates confirmed their willingness to meet with the other candidates for the main popularly elected positions when requested.
