AMLO celebrates that the INE did not cancel its morning sessions: “they are very desperate” – El Sol de México

“There is very good news, they did not prohibit morning sessions yesterday at the INE,” celebrated the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador this Friday at the beginning of his morning conference, after the opposition asked the Institute to cancel its broadcasts, considering that The president does not respect the principle of equity during the electoral process.

However, López Obrador said this Friday morning at the National Palace that ban his morning lectures It was going to be “a flagrant violation of the Constitution.”

Furthermore, he stated that the opposition has no basis to ensure that he can be silenced.

“It is a shame that they request the cancellation of a conference where the people’s right to information is being asserted,” said the president.

“It is an act of censorship, it is wanting to silence us, to silence us when democracy is about debate, it is dialogue. In dictatorships you cannot speak. In democracy, the free expression of ideas must be guaranteed, the right to dissent, the right to reply, it is freedom in a word. “Freedom cannot be cancelled,” the president remarked.

López Obrador, even though he has been sanctioned for violate electoral rules when talking about electoral processhe justified himself and said that “the important thing is that they recognize that they cannot prohibit morning sessions.”

He argued that the opposition request to cancel their mornings “It was an aberration because they are very desperate. I don’t know what’s happening to them. But they are desperate, irrational acts.”

He also accused businessman Claudio X. González of being behind this action and also maintained that there is a “supreme council” of businessmen led by him, along with journalists and intellectuals who are against him.

“They are not doing well because I have always said it: politics is a job and not everyone can do it,” concluded the president.

By unanimous vote, the INE This Thursday he rejected the request of the presidential candidate Xochitl Galvezwhich the opposition bloc formalized before the General Council, to suspend the broadcast of morning conferences during the ongoing electoral process.

However, the candidate reported that the opposition is going to appeal to the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) to reverse the INE’s decision not to cancel the morning sessions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
