Il Divo celebrates its 20th anniversary at the Mexico City Arena – El Sol de México

The members of Il Divo; the swiss Urs Bühler, the French Sebastien Izambardand the Americans David Miller and Steven LaBrie; They feel incredulous that they are celebrating 20 years of career, but they know that they owe this achievement to their fans.

That is why tonight they included our country in their anniversary tour, which was presented at the Mexico City Arena. “Come back to me”, cover of Tony Braxton which they released in 2004 and launched them to fame, was the song that started their repertoire.

The singers did not need more elements than their voices to accompany their show. Only four musicians accompanied them on stage, and a series of images of nature and landscapes that were projected on the screen.

“It is simply incredible that we have come this far and it is all thanks to you,” said David, when he greeted his audience.

His partner Steven, who joined the group starting their 2022 tour to replace Carlos Marín (who died from COVID in 2021), he even joked about the age difference between them. “I remember hearing them for the first time ago. 20 years When I was 15, they have to share their skin care routine,” she said.

Then they sounded “Crazy”, “Unchained”, “Today I feel like you”, “Perfect”, and “Despacito”, a song originally performed by Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi in reggaeton, and which they adapted to opera for their anniversary album, “XX”.

With almost perfect Spanish, the singers constantly chatted with their audience, remembering moments from their musical career, giving information about their best-known songs and even making some jokes with them.

The singers took advantage of the occasion to sing for the first time before their Mexican audience “Despertar sin ti”, the first unreleased single they have released in their history, and which is also included in their most recent album.

They immediately traveled nine years ago, to 2015 when they released the album “Amor y Passion”, which contains the hits “Perhaps” and “Kiss Me a lot”.

The romantic moments could not be missed, and during “Until my end”they invited lovers to bring a hidden ring to propose to their partners.
